In October, Veritas was a proud sponsor of both The Pro Bono Project of Mesa County’s Law Law Palooza fundraising event, as well as the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Golf Tournament at the Golf Club of Redlands Mesa. Veritas’ support of both organizations reflect our deep commitment to giving back to our community and supporting our local residents and businesses.
The Pro Bono Project of Mesa County: Supporting the underserved and low-income with legal aid in domestic violence situations
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Veritas Injury Lawyers is always a proud sponsor of The Pro Bono Project of Mesa County, as we believe that all, including the underserved, deserve legal council - particularly in cases of domestic violence, child custody, and protection orders where the underserved may have nowhere else to turn. This month we were a key sponsor of their annual Law Law Palooza fundraiser, which is a critical event for the organization to bolster financial support for the organization’s work.
"Access to legal services is essential for a just and equitable society," explains Managing Partner, Keller Caubbareaux, "And unfortunately, many individuals in our community cannot afford the legal assistance they need. The Pro Bono Project of Mesa County bridges this gap by connecting volunteer attorneys with those who require legal help but cannot afford it."
The Pro Bono Project of Mesa County (PBPMC) offers free legal services for low-income residents of Mesa County, focused in the areas of domestic violence, protection orders, child custody, and dissolution of marriage. This meets a critical need in Mesa County, as many victims of domestic violence are unable to leave due to financial barriers - the cost of protective legal services being a primary one.
“Often, victims simply can’t afford the legal support required to allow them to escape from, or protect themselves from, an abusive relationship. From seeking legal counsel to relocating to a shelter away from their partner, these measures often require both a significant amount of time and also financial means” (World Economic Forum, 2022).
PBPMC provides this critical legal support at no cost, which low-income victims need to escape their abusers. This is supported by SafeHouse Center, which reports that “[r]esearch shows that victims who are able to access supportive services, including housing and access to legal support, following their abuse are more likely to escape from their abusive situation safely.”
The Pro Bono Project of Mesa County is just one of the many local community organizations that we are passionate about supporting and we are proud to continue our dedication to community giveback. Because when our community members have the resources and support they need to live healthier, more successful lives - we all win.

Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Golf Tournament
On the lighter side, we were also able to serve as a proud sponsor of the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Tournament at Redlands Mesa.
This annual tournament is a wonderful (and fun!) opportunity for local business owners to play, connect, and network. We believe that when local businesses thrive, we all thrive, and we are proud to be a sponsor for the Chamber’s events to help promote the networking that fosters that.
"We know that a strong economy benefits everyone," says Caubbareaux, "and the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce plays a pivotal role in fostering economic development in our region. As a member and supporter, we collaborate with the Chamber to create a vibrant business environment."
